About Printing Green
Our planet needs help from all of us to stay healthy and sustain us all.
Advanced Printing of New York, possibly New York City’s most environmentally-friendly printing facility, is committed to doing all we can to sustain and improve the environment. We want to keep you up-to-date on our continuing efforts regarding sustainability.
Here is what we’ve done to help:
- We eliminated traditional film and plate processing, along with the associated toxic chemicals
- We acquired a chemical-free CTP (computer-to-plate) image setter
- Many of our house papers are either FSC® or SFI® certified, some are 100% recycled, others are from mixed sources including pre-consumer waste and well managed forests
- We use soy-based inks and other environmentally-friendly products
- We increased the use of recycled papers, and recommend them to our customers whenever possible
- We obtained FSC® certification: The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an international organization that brings people, countries, and industries together to find ways to promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests
- We obtained SFI® certification: SFI, Inc. is a non-profit organization devoted to improving sustainable forest management in the US and Canada through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative program, which is based on the premise that responsible environmental behavior and sound business decisions can be beneficial to both business and the environment
- We recycle all of our paper waste
- We recycle all of our hazardous waste—fluorescent tubes, batteries, and electronic equipment, through Easypak™
- We purchased a combination UV sterilization/water filtration unit for our own use, eliminating the unneccessary use of bottled water packaged in plastics
- We joined the CD Recycling Center of America, a non-profit organization that recycles CDs and their cases, keeping these materials out of landfills
